CANDIDA D’ANELLA LOWRY, June 10, 1952 – May 3, 2025. With heavy hearts and profound love, we announce the passing of Candida “Candy” D’Anella Lowry—a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend—who left this world peacefully on May 3rd at the age of 72. Born and raised in the heart of South Philadelphia, where she continued living, Candy carried the grit, warmth, and fierce loyalty that defined her neighborhood. She was the eldest of four siblings—Mary D’Anella (Michael Mercanti), Vincent D’Anella (Loretta D’Anella), and Donna D’Anella (John DiDomenicis)—and even as a young girl, she had a heart made for caring. She was the nurturing older sister to her brother and sisters with a tenderness and patience that most people spend a lifetime trying to learn. She was a natural protector and a second mom. Candy embodied a profound sense of purpose and compassion throughout her life. As a proud and loving wife, she shared 44 incredible years with her husband, Arthur “Brian” Lowry. Together, they created a home filled with love, joy, and steadfast kindness. Her greatest happiness stemmed from being a mother to her two children, Chris Lowry and Sarah Lowry, whom she nurtured with strength, empathy, and a firm belief in their potential. Candy had already perfected motherhood before becoming a mother herself, and her children were fortunate to have her as their guide. If you knew Candy, you felt loved. That’s just who she was. Her home was always open, her table always had room for one more, and her hugs could make the world feel right again. As an aunt, she was a guiding light to many nieces and nephews, offering the same warmth and care she gave her own children. As a cousin, she was the spark of every family gathering—filling the room with laughter, stories, and connection. She possessed a sharp sense of humor, a heart overflowing with generosity, and a spirit that remained unwavering. Candy contributed so much of herself to those around her, and in doing so, she made the world softer, brighter, and kinder. Per her request, the family will be holding a celebration of her life this Summer. Details of the service will be shared at a later time by the family
