Sandra Martin

Sandra Martin (née Read) passed away on June 1, 2026, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She was 89 years old. Sandra was predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, George Sr. (“Pud”); her son, George Jr.; her grandson, Sean Timothy; and sisters Nancy and Florence. She was the daughter of Scott, a carpenter, and Florence (née Philbin), a homemaker. She and her husband, Pud, cultivated a loving home on Barbara Street for their children: Kathy, George, Stephen, and Tim. Sandra was a strong, independent, and generous woman who took grief from no one—including her children—and told you like it is. A keen and caring mother, she used her protective nature and “hawk eyes” to watch over and guide her children as they explored the neighborhood—occasionally up to no good. In her later years, Sandra enjoyed spending time with her family, watching the Phillies, and visiting the casino. Sandra is survived by her children Kathy (the late Frank) Sorbaro, Stephen (Cheryl) Martin, and Tim (Cindy) Martin; her grandchildren Christie (Bobby), Jessica, Stephen, Daniel (Joanna), Tim Jr., Jayden, and Kaylee; her great-grandchildren Jovanni, Cameron, Addison, Emma, and Milo, and sister Judy (Gilly), brother Scott (Donna), and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the Jefferson Methodist Hospital VITAS care team. From top to bottom, they were professional, compassionate, and genuinely kind. During an incredibly difficult time, they treated my mom—and our entire family—with dignity, respect, and warmth. We are deeply grateful for the comfort and support they provided. Viewing will be Tuesday June 9th, 10:00 AM at St. Richard's Church, 19th and Pollock Sts. Funeral mass begins at 11:00 am. Entombment to follow at New St. Mary's Church in Bellmawr NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations to St Richards Church or in support of Walk for the Wounded via the wounded warriors project would be greatly appreciated
