Marie D., Age 97.  Born April 8th 1923 and raised in South Philadelphia. Died peacefully from natural causes in Canandaigua NY on March 3rd 2021.  Cherished daughter of Mariano and Theresa Talotta, predeceased.  Loving sister to Angelo, Carmela and Salvatore, predeceased. Most devoted mother to Lucy M. Hornecker (George) and Bob Rowello (Jeanette), both predeceased.  Marie is survived by 5 grandchildren: Robert (Kim), Michael, Christina Kubrich (Brian), Jeanette, Theresa and 10 great grandchildren: Brayton, Grace, Victor, Nina, Colin Kubrich, John Coggins, Natalie Coggins, Lila Kubrich, Nora Kubrich, and Maddie.  She is also survived by her many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her kind spirit and upbeat attitude will be missed by all.  Family and friends are invited to a celebratory mass at 10am on Monday March 15th at Epiphany of our Lord Church at 1121 Jackson St, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery

Marie, a devout Catholic, lived the bulk of her life in South Philadelphia on 9th Street.  She worked and retired from Thomas Jefferson University hospital where she took great pride in being the head administrator of the OBGYN unit. She believed in the power or prayer and lived each day for her family and friends. She was an avid reader, cook, and baker.  She also enjoyed knitting, the casino, the thrift shop, and most of all helping others.  Marie took great pride in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    I am saddened at Aunt Mary’s passing. She was so completely devoted to her family with such a deep love for each child, grandchild and great grandchild. She had a knack for making all of her relatives and friends feel important. Rest in Peace Marie Rowello.
